HARD COPIES ARE SOLD OUT!! THANK YOU!!
This collection of poems has themes of “the end of the world” - pending environmental and societal collapse, psychological and emotional reaction to the current state of civilization, philosophical and spiritual views of how to create a better world, connection to nature and loved ones and community as an anchor amidst chaotic times, different predictions of the future and all the emotions that accompany all of this, from despair to hope, suffering to ecstasy. The feelings of the poems range from determination, motivation and certainty to being lost, helpless, fearful, reflecting the range of feelings one can have about life even in a single day. Some words were misspelt to conjure a different meaning, sometimes meanings are twisted so the reader will view an idea in a new way, there is little punctuation so different lines can be read together or separately, so the meaning can depend on the reader, the book can be read front to back as pieces of a story or can be read on random pages. The voice of the poems can be contemplative or directed at a specific person or people in general or a worldview or mindset, it can be poking fun at normality or expressing a greater truth felt in the heart, it is like a long wandering talk with a close friend, it is human in that it admits that it doesn’t have all the answers and contradicts itself many times over its life, it is imperfect. It comes from a place of humble sincerity, concern and care about the world.
These 307 poems were written mostly between 2014 to 2021, usually in the evenings after contemplative days of working on the farm. This is my life’s work (so far) and I’m excited to share it with the world, I hope that these poems are as nourishing to your inner world as the vegetables we grow are to your body. I need to give extra special thanks to my wife and farming partner Courtney without whose ideas, conversations and supportive and loving nature this book wouldn’t exist.
The hardest part of making this book was deciding how to “release” it. I considered the normal route of finding a publisher but I realized that I like doing things my own way too much to be comfortable with that. I also thought very much about the use of forests to make paper, having creative control over the book, and also reaching as many people as I could without monetary cost being a barrier. So what I’ve decided is that I will also offer this book electronically at a price that is up to you to decide. You can pay what you can, when you can, if you can. You can also pay me back by telling others about the book (if you like it) or simply by paying it forward to someone else in a way that makes sense to your life. In this way I can “put my words where my money is” and in a small way help to create the world I want to see, that is a world of abundance and equality. I can only do this because we have such great support from the community for our little veggie farm.
If you would like an electronic copy of this book instead of a hard copy just send me a message.
Thank you for your interest and support!!!
